This portrait sculpture was completed in March 2013. The bust of Virginia Woolf is one of an edition of only 50 pieces and was featured in the national portrait gallery in London during a recent exhibition. Each of the bronze resin busts is hand cast by the artist to order and is mounted on a mahogany plinth. The statuette stands at around 15 inches high, including base and is finished with a light verdigris over “penny black” patination. Please allow 14 days from date of purchase for delivery. Adeline Virginia Woolf was born on the 25 January 1882. She was an English writer and one of the foremost modernists of the twentieth century.

A central figure in the influential Bloomsbury Group of intellectuals, her most famous works include the novels Mrs Dalloway (1925), To the Lighthouse (1927) and Orlando (1928), and the book-length essay A Room of One’s Own (1929)

Woolf suffered from severe bouts of mental illness throughout her life and committed suicide by drowning in 1941 at the age of 59.
